Biography
I received my Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Maryland, College Park, under the supervision of Professor Anthony Ephremides, in 2007. Since September 2007, I have been with the Department of Information and Communication Technologies at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, first as a visiting professor and then, since September 2012, as a post-doctoral researcher. My research is mainly focused on Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols for wireless sensor networks, as well as cross-layer optimization for applications with hard delay constraints. |

Teaching
Signals and Systems, 2010 - presentA course on digital signal processing for second year undergraduate students. Since Fall 2010, I have been teaching this course together with Xavier Serra and Vicent Caselles. As our main reference, we are using Signal Processing First by J. H. McClellan, R. W. Schafer, and M. A. Yoder. Deployment of Telecommunications Infrastructures, 2008 - 2012A Project Based Learning module for fourth year undergraduate students to put in practice the material learned in different courses in communication theory. The course no longer exists in the new Bologna program. It consisted of building a system simulator loosely based on the IEEE 802.16 WiMAX wireless standard. I was in charge of teaching an introduction to Octave/Matlab, as well as reviewing the Signal Processing background required for the project. Data Transmission II, 2008 - 2010An introductory course in cryptography and network security for second year undergraduate students. The course no longer exists in the new Bologna program. I taught this course for three years starting in the second trimester of the 2007-2008 academic year. The main reference I used was Cryptography and Network Security by William Stallings. The last version of my syllabus for the course is available here (pdf). |

UPF-DTIC Weekly Research Seminars Coordinator, 2008 - presentSince the fall trimester of 2008, I have been the coordinator for the weekly research seminars in the Department of Information and Communication Technologies at UPF. These seminars are open to public, but also constitute a course for Master's and PhD students of the department. The talks are given either by the faculty or the graduate students whithin the department, or by speakers from outside the university who are invited by different research groups of the department. If you would like to schedule talks or to arrange accomodations for an invited speaker, please send me an email. Technical Program/Organizing Committee Member of
